A Civil Celebrant conducts ceremonies for life events such as weddings, civil partnerships, naming ceremonies, funerals, and memorial services in England and Wales.
Unlike traditional officiants, such as religious leaders or registrars, celebrants work closely with couples and families to design a ceremony that reflects their unique story, values, and preferences.
What’s also unique about celebrants, is that they do not have to follow templates or 'tick boxes' meaning couples & families will have complete creative freedom to make their day how they want it to be - what’s not to love! ...

My name is Lorraine and I live in Halstead Essex with my husband Ian and our tiny Yorkie named Daisy.
I am a fully trained and accredited celebrant with the experience and knowledge to guide you in crafting a special ceremony that is personal and perfect just for you!
A mum of three grown up children, I am so very proud to see the wonderful responsible, caring adults they have all become, successfully navigating their way through life.
My gorgeous little grandson Grayson is the light of my life and I absolutely adore spending quality time with him!
I don't need an excuse to bring my family together, and I love nothing better than preparing a meal for them all, laughing together & listening to what is going on in their world .
There is nothing more special than spending time with family and friends and I especially love creating little touches to make an event extra special and add a little sparkle.
In my spare time I enjoy dancing, taking trips to new places, as well as cooking, and more recently have once again picked up my passion for sewing.
With over 20 years experience in wedding and event management & excellent public speaking skills, you can be assured your ceremony is in safe hands. You can count on me for my support & to be a reassuring presence throughout the entire process & officiate your ceremony with grace.

I will therefore work with you, & together we will create a ceremony that reflects your personalities, beliefs and values. I will take the time to get to know you and care for you every step of the way.

** Funeral Ceremony / Celebration of Life **
Losing someone we love is one of the hardest things we ever have to deal with.
It is an honour for me to be able to work with the families of the recently deceased and & a privilege to deliver a funeral ceremony that your loved one themselves would have appreciated.
Every life is unique, and so should be the funeral to say a loving farewell.
It is an opportunity to bring family and friends together to celebrate the life of that special person in a beautiful meaningful ceremony.
Our aim is to understand and fulfill your wishes, by creating a ceremony that truly reflects the person they were and all that they still mean to you
With the freedom to incorporate personal stories, memories, music and tributes into the ceremony, to make it a sincere and authentic goodbye.
If required, I can guide you on choices, and also suggest other elements to make the ceremony right for everyone involved.
I will meet with you and spend time getting to know your loved one through conversation, looking at photographs and discussing their life in detail.
I will offer guidance and support throughout whilst showing compassion and allowing you the time to tell me about your loved one.
From the information that you tell me, I will write and deliver a funeral service that is a fitting tribute to their life.
Some families know exactly what music and readings they would like, while others prefer to be guided. Again, there is no right or wrong way to do it and I am happy to work with families to create the best ceremony that we can.
Sometimes, it can be the extra little touches which make the ceremony more personal: everyone having a shot of the deceased’s favorite tipple; or a recorder solo from a grandchild.
This type of funeral ceremony allows you the freedom and choice to have exactly what you want without restrictions. The service will take place at a location of your choice: crematorium, cemetery, green burial site or another alternative.
Following our meeting, I will draft the ceremony script, sharing this back with you for review and any amendments, before confirming your approval.
On the day of the funeral, I will be there to greet and welcome you, liaising with the Funeral Director to ensure everything runs smoothly, before conducting the ceremony itself.
Afterwards, as a keepsake, I will present you with a copy of the ceremony script, within a presentation folder.

*** Naming Day / Welcoming Ceremony ***
A naming ceremony is a perfect way to celebrate the arrival of a baby, adopted children, or step-children.
For one child or two or more siblings, or related children (or friends).
We conduct naming ceremonies for families, including brothers and sisters, and also cousins.
A naming ceremony brings together family and friends to celebrate and to reflect the role they each will play in the life of your child. For older children, a ceremony can be seen as a rite of passage and a day of celebration.
If you would like to speak at the ceremony, you might like to choose words that you, as parents want to express regarding your hopes and promises to your child.
You can invite friends and relatives to become ‘Guideparents’, and they too may if desired, may make individual promises to your child.
A naming ceremony can take place anywhere – the family home or garden, community centre, village hall, a hotel, or café. The possibilities are endless!
Some families want a short, formal, structured event while others want a day filled with fun, music, and activities that guests can get involved in. It’s your day, your way and each ceremony is unique. It’s entirely up to you how the ceremony is structured and what it includes.
